Thalassemias are a type of hemoglobinopathy , treatment for thalassemia patients at AIIMS Delhi made under department of Hematology.

Tests for thalassemia major patients:
Ferritin (atleast q6 monthly), starting at one year of age

Advise on Chelation drugs, doses and duration

Liver function test (LFT), blood sugar, Calcium, phosphate (atleast q6 monthly)

Hepatitis B,C Screen/HIV (atleast annually)

Age, Weight, Height (atleast q6 monthly)

ECHO or MUGA (specialized heart test) (atleast annually in children over 10 years of age)

Bone Density in all children above 16 years, or as indicated

Bone age if between 9-16 years
