Yes, candidates have to clear all the phases of UPSC –IAS exam to become Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. IAS Exam: Eligibility Criteria : Nationality: A citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee Academic Eligibility Must hold a PASS BACHELOR'S degree in any stream . Age limits 21 years -32 years Relaxation in age limit as per Govt. norms . IAS 2016 Exam Dates:- CIVIL SERVICES (PRELIMINARY) EXAM. 2016:- 07.08.2016 (SUNDAY). CIVIL SERVICES (MAIN) EXAM, 2016:- 03.12.2016 (SATURDAY) DURATION OF EXAM:- 5 DAYS CIVIL SERVICES EXAM 2017 DATE:- CIVIL SERVICES (PRELIMINARY) EXAM. 2017 DATE OF NOTIFICATION (WEDNESDAY)- 22.02.2017 LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS – 17.03.2017 (FRIDAY) DATE OF COMMENCEMENT OF EXAM - 18.06.2017 (SUNDAY) DURATION OF EXAM - 1 DAY CIVIL SERVICES (MAIN) EXAM, 2017 DATE OF COMMENCEMENT OF EXAM – 28.10.2017 (SATURDAY) DURATION OF EXAM - 5 DAYS IAS Preliminary Exam Pattern:- Two compulsory papers of 200 marks each. Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions). The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English. Each paper will be of two hours duration.
