Well generally the Last date for applying for the PhD course in the TIFR will be two weeks after the GATE results are displayed on their website.

Entrance test

There will be an entrance test if you don’t want to apply on the basis of the GATE score

The written test will be at one of the several nationwide centres,

The questions will be from your previous degree course

The written test is followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates.

Eligibility

Mathematics:
For Ph.D. : M.A./M.Sc./M.Tech.
For I-Ph.D. : B.A./B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. (Students already /completing an M.Sc. degree by July 2016 are not eligible).

Physics:
For Ph.D.: M.Sc./M.S. in Physics, or equivalent, on completion of programmes(s) of duration not less than 5 years in total.

Chemistry:
For Ph.D.: M.Sc./M.Pharm.
For I-Ph.D.: B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm.


Application Fee (Non-Refundable):

Male Candidates :

Rs 500/- for online applications and Rs 550/- for manual applications. Rs 800/- for taking the test as walk-in candidate.

Female Candidates :

Rs 100/- for online and manual applications. Rs 200/- for taking the test as walk-in candidate.
