IIT or Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati is the first among the 3rd generation IITs, announced in 2014, to have the foundation stone laid in March 2015.

It starts functioning on a temporary campus in Tirupati from the academic year of 2015-16. It is starting with the full support of its mentoring institute, IIT Madras.
