Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is a department of the government of Tamil Nadu which is responsible for governing the recruitment of personnel into the state's public service.

Group 1:
Supreme executive powers with very hifh decision making power
eg: IAS, IPS, state Govt services(RDO), magistrate etc

Group 2:
eg: Tashildar, lecturers in govt. college, junior doctors etc

Group 3:
Semi-Skilled with almost no or little decision making authority
eg of such posts: Clerk , Typist, Income tax inspector, tax assistant etc

Group 4:
Manual workers like peon, driver etc
State public service commission conducts exam for all groups-1,2,3,4
but UPSC conducts exam for group 1 and 2 respectively
