Part-time/ Executive MBA program - 24 months


Number of core modules:
10 (taught in four 13-week terms).

Further required modules:
4 or a Dissertation.

Number of evenings per week:
2 or 3 (Monday to Friday) for 13 weeks x 4.

Time: 6 pm to 9 pm (18H to 21H).
Weekend classes: 5.

Course descriptions:

• International Business Communication:

The aim of this module is to understand the basic principles of intercultural business communication, and see the effect of “cultural differences” on how people communicate, individually and as a team, in an international business environment. A particular emphasis will be made on presentation skills and communication in the following regions: North America, Western Europe, and Asia. This course will give students a significant advantage from an intercultural perspective to interact successfully with, and present to, people from other regions.

• Operations Management:

This module aims to give students a thorough understanding of the strategic role Operations Management plays in an organization as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the ways to design, plan, implement, and control the various activities of OM so that they contribute to the organization's overall success.

• Leadership Development:

It is hardly news that we live in a fast changing and complex world, and one consequence in the new work setting is the "professionalization" and expertise among many people. A coaching and facilitating leadership style has shown to be highly effective during these conditions. Many leaders are aware of this by now, but most still struggle with applying these styles and fully take advantage of the potential of their people.

Another essential competency we will examine is the ability to constructively work with and deal with the natural conflicts within the organisation. The course aims through highly practical and interactive ways to train the participants in the skill in becoming effective coaching and facilitating leaders as well as dealing more constructively with the conflicts within their organisations.

• Human Resources Management:

This course focuses on effective management of a firm's human resources. Major topics include leadership, motivation, behavior, teamwork, employee influence systems, evaluation.

• Managerial Accounting:

This decision-making course emphasizes the use of managerial accounting concepts and techniques in a wide variety of organizational settings and functions.

• Financial Management:

A survey of decision-making techniques in the financial management fields. The role of financial planning and the acquisition and utilization of funds is stressed along with analytical concepts for evaluating decisions.

• Global Business Strategy:

A global international environment has to deal with an important added complexity related to the differences in national markets, cultural settings, political & legal policies, economic forces, behavioral factors and geographic influences. This module will highlight the globalization of international business issues and emphasize the importance of strategic management inside organizations.

• Entrepreneurship:

This module is practical and based on a Business Plan for an imaginary or real business proposition that the students write individually with feedback from the professor. The students will be able to analyse their own business ideas with respect to: business strategy, innovation, financing, financial projections, the structure of a business plan, USP, marketing strategies, company valuation and leadership.

• International Marketing:

Analysis of marketing problems from a managerial point of view. Topics covered include marketing systems, competitive policies and strategies, demand analysis, and distribution structures.

• Economics for Business:

This course covers a broad spectrum of microeconomic and macroeconomic issues and will specifically relate them to how they impact on SME and international corporations. Topics will include: national income determination; the level of employment; inflation; price determination, and market structures.

• Lobbying, Advocacy and Negotiation Skills:

This course on Lobbying examines how influencing the legislative environment is an integral part of business strategies today - from intelligence gathering and issue management to strategic planning, stakeholder approaches, internal and external communication, and campaign planning. This is a case study based course where students focus on practices and tactics of lobbying in the context of the European Union.

• International and European Law:

The historical development, basis, and role of law in modern society, with special reference to the role and application of legal principle in modern industry. Law is studied as one of the dynamics of society and as a major determinant of managerial action.

• Research Methods:

This module provides students with a means of developing further their skills in research. It presents the key elements and issues of research design, of processes of collecting evidence and analyzing this, and of drawing conclusions. The module also introduces some of the key controversies of management research, so that the participant not only comes to understand the processes and problems of producing research outcomes, but also becomes a more sophisticated consumer of these in their various forms of dissemination.

• Business Transformation Project:

The supervised module provides students with a means of developing further the skills and knowledge gained on the MBA, by application to a specific organizational issue or problem. It focuses on proficiency in the design of a business enhancement project, application of appropriate methods of investigation, management of the change process, and maintenance of vision in the face of the vicissitudes of business realities.

• Dissertation:

This supervised module provides students with the means of further developing and integrating the skills and knowledge acquired on the MBA through application to a specific organizational issue or problem. It focuses on proficiency in relation to scoping the issue(s)/problems, consideration of appropriate literature, collection and analysis of data, assessing the financial implications, including any cost/benefit analysis for justifying specific recommendations and consideration of implementation issues.
