Shivaji University was established in 1962, is in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. The university was established on 18 November 1962. The university is approved by University Grants Commission UGC.

Department of English

The department was established in 1965.

The Department of English provides specialized knowledge and training in British Literature, New Literatures in English, Linguistics, ELT, Comparative Literature and Communicative Competence.

It also seeks to develop, through teaching of Language and Literature, sensitivity to human and social values.
