Since its initiation in 1912, the Department of Pure Mathematics has dependably been a Department of increase by its nature of educating and level of examination.

A cosmic system of Mathematicians has enhanced the Department constantly; men like Prof. Youthful, Prof. Forsyth, Prof. Ganesh Prasad, Prof. S. D. Mukherjee, Prof. F. W. Levi and numerous others upgraded the esteem of the Department by their profitable educating and research.

The Department has eight educators at present ( eleven posts are empty ) who are attempting to advance better instructing, better research and better framework for showing constantly; under the "Clench hand" Program of the division, the Department now has an extremely rich PC lab. The web access region PC has been given to every one of the instructors and exploration researchers also. By and large the quantity of examination researchers in the Department differs from 20 to 25 and the normal number of Ph.D's every year with reference to the most recent five years is 5.
