The University of Gujrat is one of the new significant open division colleges in Punjab. The college was built up under Act IX of 2004 by Government of Punjab, Pakistan on 23 February 2004 to provide food for the advanced education needs of the number of inhabitants in Central Punjab which incorporates areas of Gujrat, Sialkot and Gujranwala notwithstanding urban communities of Wazirabad and Jhelum .

History

The making of the University of Gujrat was the brainchild of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, who was boss clergyman of Punjab from 2002 to 2007.
