The University of Madras (is an open state college in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Set up in 1857, it is one of the most established and chief colleges in India. The college was joined by a demonstration of the Legislative Council of India.

It is a university research college and has six grounds in the city viz., Chepauk, Marina, Guindy, Taramani, Maduravoyal and Chetpet.

At present, there are 73 scholarly offices assembled under 18 schools, covering different territories, for example, sciences, sociologies, humanities, administration and medication alongside 109 subsidiary universities and 52 affirmed research establishments.

The Senate House is the administrative centre of the University of Madras in Chennai, India. It is arranged in Wallajah Road, along Marina Beach. Developed by Robert Chisholm somewhere around 1874 and 1879, the Senate building is thought to be one of the best and most established case of Indo-Saracenic engineering in India
