Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the exam notification of Combined Geo-Scientists and Geologists Examination 2016.

i. Geologist, Group A: 121 Posts
ii. Geophysicist, Group A: 56 Posts
iii. Chemistry Group A: 29 Posts

2. Category II (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources): 02 Posts
i. Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B), Group A: 02 Posts

Important dates-

Date of Notification: 06th February 2016
Last Date for Payment of Fee using Pay by Cash Mode: 03rd March 2016 by 23:59 hrs
Last Date to Apply Online: 04th March 2016 by 11:59 PM
Last Date for Payment of Fee using Debit/Credit Card/ Internet Banking: 04th March 2016 by 25:59 hrs
Date of Competitive Examination: 13th May 2016

Educational Qualifications

For Geologists Gr ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India:

Masters Degree in Geological Science or Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology from recognised university

For Geophysicists Gr ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India:

M.Sc in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc (Tech) (Applied Geophysics) from recognised University

For Chemists Gr ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India:

M.Sc in Chemistry or Applied Chemistryor Analytical Chemistry from recognised University

For Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist-B) Group ‘A’ in Central Ground Water Board:

Masters Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or marine Geology or Masters Degree in Hydrogeology from a recognised University

Age Limits:

a) For Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist (Group 'A') in the Geological Survey of India, an attached office of Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India:

Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years

b) For Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) (Group B) in Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources

Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 35 years

The upper age limit will be relaxable upto a maximum of 7 years in the case of Govt. servants, if they are employed in dept. mentioned

Selection Process

Stage I: Written Examination

Stage II: Interview/Personality Test of such candiates as may be called by the Commission, carrying a maximum of 200 marks
