Each section will be divided into three categories, which will be based on distribution of different pattern of marking scheme.

Marking of response must be done carefully by the candidates.

Category 1 of WBJEE 2017 Exam Pattern
One mark will be awarded for each correct answer option, while 0.25 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Marking more than one answer option in the OMR sheet will be treated as incorrect answer, which means 0.25 mark will be deducted.

Category 2
Two marks will be awarded for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect response.

Marking more than one answer option in the OMR sheet will be treated as incorrect answer, which means 0.25 mark will be deducted.

Category 3
In category 3 of questions, more than 1 answer options may or may not be correct. This means that candidates will be awarded full marks (2) if they mark all the right answers.

No negative marking for incorrect answers. This means that for any combination of answers containing one or more wrong answer options no mark will be awarded.

For partially correct response, without any incorrect marking, the following formulae will be applicable to awarding marks = 2 X (no of correct responses)/(total no of correct options)
