GATE 2017 Exam Pattern:

Duration of Exam: 3 hours

Types of Questions:

Multiple Choice
Numerical Questions: Answers to be keyed in using the keypad. A rough book will be given for calculations

Marking Scheme for GATE 2017:

There will be 1 mark and 2 marks questions.

The total marks are 100.

Negative marking will exist only for multiple choice questions

1/3 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer to a 1 mark question

2/3 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer to the 2 mark questions

GATE Exam Sections:

General Aptitude Section is compulsory for all papers and will be for 15 marks.

For Papers with codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE:

Engineering Mathematics Section will be compulsory for 15 marks

The main subject of the paper (70% percentage of the total marks)

For Papers with codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL: The Main subject of the paper will be for 85% percentage of the total marks.

GATE 2017 XE Paper Candidates have to attempt any two of XE sections B to G.

GATE 2017 XL Paper Candidates have to attempt Section H in Chemistry along with any two of XL sections I to M
