The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Code in WPI or Worcester Polytechnic Institute for admission in Graduate Programs is as follows:

TOEFL/IELTS
• The test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) is required for International students who come from countries where English is not the first language.

• Have the scores sent to WPI (school code: 3969).
The minimum scores for admission are:
TOEFL: 223 (computer based test)
563 (paper-based test)
84 (internet-based test)
IELTS: 7.0 overall band score with no sub-score lower than 6.5

• TOEFL/IELTS Notes and Exceptions:
• Applicants who have completed two years of full-time study in a college or university in the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or the Anglophone regions of Africa, Canada, or the Caribbean, within five years of matriculating at WPI are not required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores

• School of Business: TOEFL/IELTS is required for all applicants whose native language is not English and who have not earned a degree from an English-instruction college or university

• Higher scores are required for Teaching Assistants.

• Scores are valid for two years from the test date.
