Admission Procedure for ICAI
Can you tell me in detail about the admission procedure of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)? Give me the contact detail of the institute as well? ICAI- Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has started Direct Admission to the chartered accountancy course by skipping the entry-level Common Proficiency Test (CPT) and directly register for the second level Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC). Eligibility Requirement for Registration An applicant who has cleared Common Proficiency Test (CPT) and Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 examination) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or Students who are awaiting your 10+2 results can also apply for Chartered Accountant Exam or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto and applicant who is Graduates/ Post Graduates in Commerce having secured in aggregate a minimum of 55% of the total or its equivalent by studying any three papers of 100 marks each out of Accounting, Auditing, Mercantile Laws, Corporate Laws, Economics, Management (including Financial Management), Taxation (including Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), Costing, Business Administration or Management Accounting or other than those falling under Commerce stream having secured in aggregate a minimum of 60% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by a recognized University (including Open University) and applicant who have passed the Intermediate level examination conducted by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India or by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India are exempted from qualifying Common Proficiency Test (CPT) vide Notification No. 1-CA(7)/145/2012 dated August 1, 2012 can join the Intermediate (IPC) Course. There are no restrictions with regard to the age of the candidate or marks secured in Senior Secondary Examination for appearing in CA Entrance Exam Papers CA Entrance Exams Pattern and Admission Process CPT - Common Proficiency Test is the entrance exam that a candidate needs to undertake as an entrance level route to the Chartered Accountancy stream which every intending candidate is to clear before enrolling for the professional state. CPT exam is held twice in a year i.e., in June & December. It is an exam of four subjects i.e. Accounting, Mercantile Laws, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude. This exam is of 200 marks. It is divided into two sessions of two hours each . CPT is an objective type test with negative marking. The qualifying mark is 50%.
