The Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders, was established as a separate superspeciality department at AIIMS in May 2011, Dr. Randeep Guleria is the Head of department and there are a total of five faculty members and nine DM fellows. The department has a fully functional nine bedded respiratory medicine ward and nine bedded respiratory intensive care unit. High quality and high volume patient care is being provided to patients suffering from a variety of respiratory ailments. Interventional bronchoscopy Stent placement (tracheal and bronchial) Balloon dilatation Endobronchial debulking of tumours Endobronchial electrocautery or diathermy Argon plasma coagulation (APC) Cryotherapy and cryoextraction B. Sleep laboratory Sleep study (diagnostic as well as CPAP titration) InPatient Services Department provide indoor care for various respiratory diseases such as COPD, Asthma, interstitial lung disease, Lung cancer, pleural diseases and other heterogeneous conditions leading to respiratory failure. Their main ward is situated on the third floor in New Private Ward wing. This ward has 9 beds. The ICU is manned round the clock by senior resident. The nurse patient ratio is 1:1.5.
