Re: AIIMS Tamilnadu Budget
The Union health ministry is likely to establish an All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS in Tamil Nadu. The announcement for a 200 acre AIMS facility in Tamil Nadu at Rs2000 crore was made in the Union Budget 2015-16. A list of 5 possible locations - Chengalpattu in Kanchipuram district, Pudukkottai city in Pudukkottai district, Chengipatti in Tanjore district, Perundhurai in Erode district, and Thoppur in Madurai district - was made by the state government. In 2016, a central committee of experts visited each of these places. On 28 February 2015, in the 2015-2016 budget speech, Jaitley announced five more AIIMS, in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Assam and Tamil Nadu and an "AIIMS-like" institute in Bihar. On 7 November 2015, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi had announced development package for Jammu & Kashmir which includes the setting up of two AIIMS, in the capital cities of Jammu and Kashmir. Of these seven "Phase-V" institutes, sites have been assigned for at Changsari in Assam, Vijay Pur in the Jammu Division of Jammu and Kashmir, Awantipora in the Kashmir Division of Jammu and Kashmir and Bathinda in Punjab. No sites weres assigned yet for the institutes in Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Following are the new AIIMS in India. The institutions and hospitals are planned for the future: AIIMS Assam AIIMS Himachal Pradesh AIIMS Punjab AIIMS J&K AIIMS Rajkot AIIMS Nagpur AIIMS Rai Bareilly AIIMS Gorakhpur |
