Hey as Anna University is a technical university in Tamil Nadu, India. The main university campus is located in Guindy, Chennai. It was named after C N Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 4 September 1978.

Introduction of YRC

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) in Anna University is one of the avenues among NCC, NSS and NSO available to the students to be pursued under Personality and Character Development Programme.

Establishment:

The YRC is the most important constituent of its mother organisation, Indian Red Cross. It is a student movement organised for students in Colleges and Technical Institutions. YRC in Anna University was established in the academic year 2002-03 as per the orders of the Government of Tamil Nadu.


Promotion of Health and Hygiene:

Practice of good health habits.

Cleanliness of college premises, their own places and outside.

Preparation of health poster and pamphlets.

Propaganda on health and cleanliness in villages, slums and towns to create awareness among the people on hygiene by organizing propaganda parties, processions, dramas etc.

Conducting medical check-up camps at slums, villages and in other places of need with the help of state parent body.

Co-operating with public, Health Department in anti-epidemic measures, village sanitation etc.

Exhibition of film shows, cultural programmes on prevention of diseases.

Conduct Essay competition and award prizes.
