B.Sc MLT JIPMER

I am interested in medical line and want to do B. Sc. Medical Lab Technology (M.L.T) from JIPMER. Will you tell me is there any entrance exam I have to give for taking admission in JIPMER and tell me lists of faculty members available for this course?

The details about the B. Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology) Program offered by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry are as follows:


Eligibility for Admission

One should have a pass in the Higher Secondary Exam (Academic) conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Exam of Tamil Nadu, or any other equivalent exam accepted by the Final, thereto with a minimum of 50 % marks (40 % marks for SC, ST and OBC candidates) in Part –III subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Biology/Botany & Zoology) and should have English as one of the subjects.


Duration
The period of certified study and training of the B.Sc. (MLT) degree course is 3 academic years.


Medium of Instruction
English is the medium of instruction for all the subjects of study and for exams of the course.


Minimum Working Days in an Academic Year
Each academic year consist of not less than 180 days with a minimum of 90 days working days per semester.


Internal Assessment (IA):
Internal assessment is done in each subject of study and the marks are awarded in the scheme of exams.
The marks awarded will be done on the basis of the performance in the assignments, class tests –written / practical, laboratory work, preparation and presentation of Project work/ seminars or any other accepted tools of assessment, as assessed by the teachers.
One should have scored a minimum of 35% in Theory (IA) and 35% in Practical (IA) separately to be allowed to appear for the Summative / Final Examination.


Eligibility / maximum duration for the award of the degree:
a) One is eligible for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology when have undergone the prescribed course of study for a period of minimum 3 years in JIPMER and have passed the prescribed exams in all subjects.
b) The maximum period to complete the course successfully should not exceed the period of 6 years.
