The Department of Biochemistry was set up as an autonomous Department in Faculty of Science of Banaras Hindu University in January 1984. The Department has fundamental infrastructural offices to meet the prerequisites for educating and research in different zones of Biochemistry.

The Department conducts two-year (4 semesters) present graduation course driving on M. Sc. (Natural chemistry) degree. Sixteen understudies are admitted to this course each year.

The course incorporates 11 hypothesis papers, 4 down to earth papers, extend work and workshops.
