BMT Wing has been instrumental in building up a medicinal gadget industry base in India by effectively creating and commercializing innovations of various gadgets and inserts. Head, BMT Wing is in charge of the general managerial, specialized and scholarly operations of BMT Wing and reports to the Director of the Institute. The exercises of BMT Wing are ordered into six gatherings. Every Group comprises of different divisions/research facilities.

BMT Wing engages in advanced research and development in the following areas.

Controlled drug delivery for targeted delivery of drugs as well as vaccines

Diagnostic kits for cardiovascular, neurological as well as genetic diseases

Surface modification for improved compatibility as well as infection resistance

Polymer composites for several medical applications

The wing also provides specialised diagnostic services clinicians on the following areas.

Evaluation of thrombotic tendency in patients with cardiovascular diseases dentification of genes involved in development of neuronal hyper activation and develop early diagnostic markers.

Improvement of bioactive ceramics materials for use in orthopedic surgery

Improvement of blood handling devices like centrifugal blood pumps and blood concentrators
