CRPF is Central Reserve Police Force.

It is the biggest of India's Central Armed Police Forces.

It works under the guidance of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the
Government of India.

The CRPF's primary role lies in assisting the State/Union Territories in police
operations to maintain law and order and counter insurgency

It was originated on 27th July, 1939.

Paramilitary law enforcement, counter insurgency, armed response to
civil unrest, counter terrorism, special weapons operations.

Counter terrorism, special weapons and tactics, protection of VIPs.

Protection of international or domestic VIPs, protection of significant state
assets



Organisational structure

It is headed by a Director general who is an IPS officer and is divided into 10
administrative sectors, each headed by an Inspector General.

Each Sector consists of one or more administrative and/or Operational
Ranges, headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG)
of Polic
