Re: Capital area progressive schools
As per your request I am providing you the details about the CAPS(Capital area progressive schools ) . Capital Area Progressive Schools (CAPS), a group of five local progressive schools: Burgundy Farm Country Day School Capitol Hill Day School Green Acres School Friends Community School and Lowell School facilitated this regional conference to connect and celebrate progressive educators. Progressive education, a pedagogical movement such as focusing on the whole child and students’ social, emotional, academic, cognitive and physical development; supporting students’ natural curiosity and fostering internal motivation; encouraging active participation of students in their learning, which derives from hands-on experience; and student-driven curriculum that prepares students for active participation in a democratic society. In addition to local progressive educators and administrators, attendees at the conference included public school teachers and other educators interested in best practices. Twenty-six workshops, panels and discussion groups demonstrated what progressive education is and how it can benefit schools beyond those involved in CAPS. Academics included in this are: Philosophy Faculty Early Childhood Elementary Middle School Fine and Performing Arts Library and Technology Burgundy Center for Wildlife Studies Also there is a summer program which includes: Burgundy Center for Wildlife Studies Burgundy Summer Day Camp Contact: 3700 Burgundy Road Alexandria, VA 22303 Main Office 703-960-3431 Main Office Fax 703-960-5056 Most personnel can be reached by email address: firstnamelastinital@burgundyfarm.org map |
