Central Tasar Research and Training Institute, alluded to as CTR and TI, Ranchi was built up in 1964 under the aegis of Central Silk Board to transmit R and D to take into account the requirements of Tasar silk Industry (both tropical and mild), a tribal based provincial venture in the nation. With its system of eight Regional stations (RTRS), eleven Extension Centers (REC), one Oak tasar grainage at Imphal the Institute gives the cutting edge innovative know-how to the order states, both under tropical and mild tasar segment.

Mandate and Activities

Lead of essential and connected research on tasar have plants and silkworms for development and advancement of yield and on post-cover viewpoints for expanding the rate of creation and refinement in process for quality yarn and textures.

Advancement of developments for enhanced silkworm raising, case protection and seed creation.

Creating advancements for control of bugs and sicknesses of host plants and silkworm.

Development, support and supply of reproducers stock.

Showing and spread of the created advancements through sorting out different augmentation projects and commercialization .

Generation of trained manpower.

Coordination with Department of sericulture of charge states.

Stretch out consultancy administrations to various organizations like DOS, NGOs and others.

Training Details

Structured Course:

Post-Graduate Diploma in Sericulture (Non-Mulberry)

Duration : 15 months

Eligibility :
Graduate / Post-Graduate in Botany/Zoology/Sericulture/Agriculture from a recognized University as well as age below 42 yrs on the date of commencement of the course.

Selection:
Selection of aspirants is done through a screening process as per norms of Ranchi University. The advertisement is made in National / Local dailies and also the website of Central Silk Board during the month of April every year. Fee structure as well as other details are given in the training calendar.

Capsule Course (short duration) :
The aspirants are sponsored by the DOS of respective states.
