The Central University of Jammu and Kashmir was set up through the extraordinary activity by the MHRD of the Indian Government.

CUJK appeared through the Central Universities Act, 2009. CUJK will extend its locale to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The Vice-Chancellor of the University is Prof. Abdul Wahid.

The vision of the Central University of Jammu and Kashmir is to create as a foundation of perfection, guarantee exclusive requirement of instruction, laying weight on both conventional and advanced courses. The University will likewise receive the 'Financial Reform Models' and along these lines lay anxiety upon components like quality staff, straightforwardness in confirmation process, successful semester framework and Choice Based Credit Systems, intelligent educating learning strategy, target assessment and so on.
