The Central University of Jammu appeared on August 08, 2011, with the arrangement of the principal Vice-Chancellor. It was set up by the Central Universities Act, 2009 (Act No.25 of 2009 read with the Central Universities Act, 2009).

The Department of Educational Studies is portrayed by the constructivist perspective of instruction and learning. Since instruction is developmental in nature, the Department tries to concentrate on mixing and setting out reasonable and executional changes in the more extensive instructive connection.

The Department of Educational Studies offers a thorough two years M.Ed. Program spread more than four semesters. The system has been intended to give an all encompassing comprehension of the issues and concerns subsisting in present instructive connection.

The project endeavours to manufacture understudies' abilities in deliberate basic considering, critical thinking, sensible thinking and significance making

Goals of the M.Ed. Program:

The understudies at the Department of Educational Studies amid their compatibility of M.Ed. project are encouraged to:
