The Civil Services Preliminary Examination is the first stage of the IAS Exam. It is only a screening test i.e only those candidates who come out successful in the Preliminary Exam are allowed to appear for the IAS Main Examination.

It comprises two papers General Studies-I & General Studies-II (CSAT). Out of these two, Civil Services Aptitude Test is of qualifying nature only.
