Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) is a large community college in Charlotte, North Carolina. The school was established in 1963 by merger between Mecklenburg College and the Central Industrial Education Center

The college does not offer MBA program. It offers the following programs.

Accounting
The Accounting curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and growth in the accounting profession. Advertising & Graphic Design
The future belongs to those who are able to solve problems with courageous creativity. The Advertising + Graphic Design curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to be the next creative leaders in our community.

Air Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Technology
The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology curriculum, provides the basic knowledge to develop skills necessary to work with residential and light commercial systems. Topics include mechanical refrigeration, heating and cooling theory, electricity, controls and safety.

Architectural Technology
The Architectural Technology curriculum prepares individuals with knowledge and skills that can lead to employment in the field of architecture or one of the associated professions. Students receive instruction in construction document preparation, materials and methods, environmental and structural systems, building codes and specifications and computer applications as well as complete a design project.

Automotive Systems Technology
The Automotive Systems Technology curriculum prepares individuals for employment as Automotive Service Technicians. It provides an introduction to automotive careers and increases student awareness of the challenges associated with this fast and ever-changing field.

Baking & Pastry Arts
The Baking & Pastry Arts curriculum is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required for employment in the baking/pastry industry, including restaurants, hotels, independent bakeries/pastry shops, wholesale/retail markets, and high-volume bakeries, and/or further academic studies. Students will be provided with theoretical knowledge/practical applications that provide critical competencies to meet industry demands, including environmental stewardship, operational efficiencies and professionalism.

Basic Law Enforcement Training (Police Academy)
Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) is designed to provide students with the essential skills required for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers with state, county, or municipal governments, or with private enterprise.
This program utilizes state commissioned-mandated topics and methods of instruction.

Broadcast & Production Technology
An Associate in Applied Science degree in Broadcast & Production Technology (BPT) at CPCC gives skilled, competent media students opportunities to work in a variety of media-related venues and services. The BPT curriculum is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the digital journalism and media industry.

Business Administration
The Business Administration curriculum is designed to introduce students to the various aspects of the free enterprise system. Students will be provided with a fundamental knowledge of business functions, processes and an understanding of business organizations in today’s global economy.

Business Administration - Human Resources Management
Human Resources Management is a concentration under the curriculum title of Business Administration. This curriculum is designed to meet the demands of business and service agencies.

Business Administration - International Business Concentration
International Business is a concentration under the curriculum title of Business Administration. This curriculum prepares individuals for positions in international business through studies in accounting, business, foreign language and specialized courses in international marketing, law, economics and trade practices.

Business Administration - Marketing & Retailing Concentration
Marketing and Retailing is a concentration under the curriculum title of Business Administration. The curriculum is designed to provide students with fundamental skills in marketing and retailing.

Cardiovascular Technology
The Cardiovascular Technology curriculum prepares individuals with the didactical knowledge and specialized skills to evaluate and perform various procedures leading to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases while maintaining quality patient care practices. in the first year of the program, students will gain a fundamental knowledge with associated skill sets of cardiovascular imaging modalities, cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, EKG, cardiac pacemakers, ultrasound physical principles, echocardiography and cardiac catheterization.
Emphasis is placed on focused theoretical knowledge and the advancing development of technical and cognitive skills required in the specialized concentration track of non-invasive (echocardiography) or invasive (cardiac catheterization), during the second year of the program.

Civil Engineering Technology
The Civil Engineering Technology curriculum provides the application of relevant theory of engineering needed by technicians to carry out planning and supervisory tasks in the construction of transportation systems, residential and commercial buildings, bridges, dams and water and wastewater treatment systems. Coursework includes the communication and computational skills required to support the fields such as materials testing, structures, estimating, project management, hydraulics, environmental technology and surveying.

Collision Repair & Refinishing Technology
The Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology curriculum provides training in the use of equipment and materials of the collision repair and refinishing trade. The student studies the construction of the automobile body and techniques of repairing, rebuilding and refinishing.

Communication
The Communication Studies Department offers coursework that tackles communication on a number of levels. From intercultural communication to debate and the relationship between mass media and the public, classes in this area can provide you with the foundation for jobs in diverse industries.

Computer Engineering Technology
The Computer Engineering Technology curriculum provides the skills required to install, service and maintain computers, peripherals, networks and microprocessor and computer controlled equipment. It includes training in both hardware and software, emphasizing operating systems concepts to provide a unified view of computer systems.

Computer-Integrated Machining
Computer-Integrated Machining Technology curriculum is designed to develop skills in the theory and safe use of hand tools, power machinery, computerized equipment and sophisticated precision inspection instruments. Students will learn to interpret blueprints, set up manual and CNC machines, perform basic and advanced machining operations and make decisions to insure that work quality is maintained.

Computer Technology Integration
their primary mission is workforce development for Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. to support this mission, the IT Division offers the Computer Technology Integration degree (A25500) which consists of a core set of general information technology courses to provide all IT students with a solid foundation in the fundamentals of the field of Information Technology along with several diploma and certificate options.

Construction Management Technology
The Construction Management Technology curriculum is designed to prepare individuals for careers in the construction management field. Instruction includes safety, planning, scheduling, cost control, productivity, human relations estimating and building codes.

Cosmetology
The Cosmetology curriculum is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. The curriculum provides a simulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills.
Course work includes instruction in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics.
Graduates should qualify to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination..

Criminal Justice Technology
The Criminal Justice Technology curriculum is designed to provide knowledge of criminal justice systems and operations. Study will focus on local, state and federal law enforcement, judicial processes, corrections and security services.

Culinary Arts
The Culinary Arts curriculum provides specific training required to prepare students to assume positions as trained culinary professionals in a variety of foodservice settings including full service restaurants, hotels, resorts, clubs, catering operations, contract foodservice and health care facilities. Students will be provided theoretical knowledge/practical applications that provide critical competencies to meet industry demands, including environmental stewardship, operational efficiencies and professionalism.

Cytotechnology
Cytotechnology is an advanced allied health career which prepares the individual to use specialized equipment to study cells for detecting cancer, hormonal abnormalities and other pathological disease processes. Individuals entering this curriculum must have earned a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in the biological sciences.

Dental Assisting
Dental assistants help dentists in the delivery of dental treatment and function as integral members of the dental team while performing chair-side and related office and laboratory procedures. Course work includes instruction in general studies, biomedical sciences, dental sciences, clinical sciences and clinical practice.

Dental Hygiene
The Dental Hygiene curriculum prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills to access, plan, implement and evaluate dental hygiene care for the individual and the community. Students will learn to prepare the operatory, take patient histories, note abnormalities, plan care, teach oral hygiene techniques, provide periodontal therapy, expose radiographs, apply preventive agents, complete necessary chart entries and perform other procedures related to dental hygiene care.

Diesel and Heavy Equipment & Transport Technology
The Diesel and Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology curriculum is designed to prepare individuals in developing basic knowledge and skills needed for employment in diesel powered medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
Classroom and lab experiences will be based on construction features, principles of operation, trouble shooting and repair of medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Upon completion of the program, graduates should qualify for entry level employment as a technician in a dealership, fleet shop, or independent garage.

Digital Film & Videography
Digital Film and Videography students take a series of courses that are vital for work in a number of electronic media industries. in our certificate program, you will learn the practical, technical skills needed to pursue work in filmmaking, broadcasting and general film production.

Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Education curriculum prepares individuals to work with children from infancy through middle childhood in diverse learning environments. There is growing recognition of the importance of early childhood education among both corporate and governmental leadership.

Electrical Engineering Technology
The Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum is designed to provide training for entry-level technicians desiring a career in electrical maintenance and management, design, planning, construction, development and installation of electrical systems, machines, automation and power generating equipment. Beginning with electrical fundamentals, coursework progressively introduces electronics, circuit simulation using Electronics Workbench, AutoCAD and Visual Basic Programming.

Electrical Systems Technology
Program description: The Electrical Systems Technology curriculum is designed to provide training for persons interested in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems found in residential, commercial and industrial facilities. Training, most of which is hands-on, will include such topics as AC/DC theory, residential, commercial and industrial wiring practices, programmable logic controllers and solar systems, industrial motor controls, the National Electric Code and other subjects as local needs require.

Electronics Engineering
The Electronic Engineering Technology curriculum prepares individuals to become technicians who design, build, install, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production electronic components, equipment and systems such as industrial/computer controls, manufacturing systems, instrumentation systems, communication systems and power electronic systems. A broad-based core of courses, including basic electricity, solid-state fundamentals, digital concepts and microprocessors, ensures the student will develop the skills necessary to perform entry-level tasks.

Emergency Medical Science
The Emergency Medical Science curriculum is designed to provide students with knowledge of emergency medicine and its operations. Students completing the program will have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide pre-hospital care for local EMS providers.
In addition to a General Education core, the EMS Program will offer students EMS coursework that includes EMT and paramedic training, as well as coursework in EMS management, rescue operations management, and methods of EMS education.

Fire Protection Technology
The Fire Protection Technology curriculum is designed to provide individuals with technical and professional knowledge to make decisions regarding fire protection for both public and private sectors. It also provides a sound foundation for continuous higher learning in fire protection, administration and management.
Course work includes classroom and laboratory exercises to introduce the student to various aspects of fire protection.

Geomatics Technology
The Geomatics Technology curriculum provides training for technicians in many areas of surveying. Surveyors are involved in land surveying, route surveying, construction surveying, photogrammetry, mapping, global positioning systems, geographical information systems, and other areas of property description and measurements.

Geospatial Technology
The Geospatial Technology curriculum provides a broad background in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies with practical applications in municipal, industrial, natural resources management and other fields. Course work consists of class and hands-on experience with GIS/GPS technologies, including running and modifying current GIS software, creating and manipulating GIS databases and operating GPS technology.

Graphic Arts & Imaging Technology
The Graphics Arts and Imaging Technology curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment in the printing, publishing, packaging and related industries. Students will receive hands-on training in computer publishing, imaging technology, offset lithography, screen printing, flexography and emerging printing technologies.

Graphic Arts & Imaging Technology-Flexography Concentration
Flexography is a concentration under the Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology curriculum. This curriculum is designed to allow students to gain further study into the flexographic printing production process.

Health Information Technology
The Health Information Technology curriculum prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills to process, analyze, abstract, compile, maintain, manage and report health information. Graduates will supervise department functions; classify, code and index diagnoses and procedures; coordinate information for cost control, quality management, statistics, marketing and planning; monitor governmental and non-governmental standards; facilitate research; and design system controls to monitor patient information security.

Horticulture Technology
The Horticulture Technology curriculum is designed to prepare individuals for various careers in horticulture. Classroom instruction and practical laboratory applications of horticultural principles and practices are included in the program of study.

Hospitality Management
The Hospitality Management curriculum prepares individuals to understand and apply the administrative and practical skills needed for supervisory and managerial positions in hotels, motels, resorts, inns, restaurants, institutions and clubs. Course work includes guest services, leadership, management, restaurant operations, lodging operations, marketing, sanitation, food preparation, food and beverage management and other critical areas.
Graduates should qualify for management or entry-level supervisory positions in food and lodging operations, including restaurants, foodservice, beverage service, catering, front office, reservations and housekeeping.

Human Services Technology
The Human Services Technology curriculum prepares students for entry and mid-level positions in institutions and agencies that provide social, community and educational services. Students will take courses from a variety of disciplines.

Human Services Technology - Developmental Disabilities Concentration
The Human Services Technology-Developmental Disabilities program is designed to prepare students to work with children and adults with physical, intellectual and emotional disabilities. Students will specialize in providing person-centered supports for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Human Services Technology - Substance Abuse Concentration
The Human Services Technology/Substance Abuse program is designed to prepare students for a career in the field of substance abuse and assist them in the process of State certification/licensure. The program also enables students to transfer their credits earned and pursue a four-year degree.

Interior Design
The Interior Design curriculum is designed to prepare students for a variety of job opportunities in the field of both residential and non-residential interior design. The focus of the studies is technical knowledge, professional practices and aesthetic principles.

Interpreter Education
The Interpreter Education curriculum prepares individuals to work as entry-level sign language interpreters who will provide communication access for people who are deaf and hard of hearing in interview and interactive settings. in addition, this curriculum provides in-service training for working interpreters who want to upgrade their skills.
Mechanical Engineering Technology

The Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum prepares graduates for employment as technicians in the diversified mechanical and manufacturing engineering fields. Mechanical Engineering technicians assist in the design, development, testing, process design, improvement and troubleshooting and repair of engineered systems.

Mechatronics Engineering Technology
The Mechatronics Engineering Technology curriculum prepares graduates for employment as technicians in engineering fields requiring electrical, mechanical and computer skills. Mechatronics Engineering technicians assist in the design, development, testing, process design and improvement, and troubleshooting and repair of complex engineering and manufacturing systems.

Medical Assisting
The Medical Assisting curriculum prepares multi-skilled health care professionals qualified to perform administrative, clinical and laboratory procedures. Course work includes instruction in scheduling appointments, coding and processing insurance accounts, billing, collections, medical transcription and computer operations; assisting with examinations/treatments, performing routine laboratory procedures, electrocardiography, supervised medication administration; andstudying ethical/legal issues associated with patient care.
Medical Laboratory Technology

The Medical Laboratory Technology curriculum prepares individuals to perform clinical laboratory procedures in chemistry, hematology, microbiology and transfusion medicine that may be used in the maintenance of health and diagnosis/treatment of disease. Course work emphasizes mathematical and scientific concepts related to specimen collection, laboratory testing and procedures, quality assurance and reporting/recording and interpreting findings involving tissues, blood and body fluids.

Medical Office Administration
This curriculum prepares individuals for employment in medical and other health-care-related offices. Course work will include medical terminology, information systems, office management, medical coding, billing and insurance, legal and ethical issues and formatting and word processing.

Non-Destructive Examination Technology
The Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Technology curriculum prepares students for careers in non-destructive testing of materials, equipment and/or components. NDE test methods assess an object’s integrity without affecting its function.

Nurse Aide
A certified nursing assistant, or CNA, is a medical professional who provides personal care and performs basic nursing skills for adults. Emphasis is placed on the aging process (including mental, social, and physical needs of the elderly), patient's rights, nutrition management, elimination procedures, safe environment, restorative services, personal and special care procedures and activities, human body structure/function and related common diseases/disorders, communication and documentation, death and dying, and roles of the nursing assistant and health team members..

Nursing
The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides knowledge, skills and strategies necessary to integrate safety and quality into nursing care, to practice in a dynamic environment, and to meet individual needs which impact health, quality of life and achievement of potential. Course work includes and builds upon the domains of health-care, nursing practice and the holistic individual.

Occupational Therapy Assistant
The Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum prepares individuals to work under the supervision of a registered/licensed occupational therapist in screening, assessing, planning, and implementing treatment and documenting progress for clients receiving occupational therapy services. Course work includes human growth and development, conditions which interfere with activities of daily living, theory and process of occupational therapy, individual/group treatment activities, therapeutic use of self, activity analysis, and grading/adapting activities and environments.

Office Administration
The Office Administration curriculum prepares individuals for positions in administrative support careers. It equips office professionals to respond to the demands of a dynamic computerized workplace.

Office Administration - Legal Concentration
Legal is a concentration under the curriculum title of Office Administration. This curriculum prepares individuals for entry-level positions in legal or government-related offices and provides professional development for the currently employed.

Ophthalmic Medical Assisting
The one-year diploma program in Ophthalmic Medical Assistant prepares individuals to perform ophthalmic procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician specializing in Ophthalmology. Course work includes both classroom and clinical instruction with an emphasis on taking medical and ocular histories and performing a variety of ocular measurements; ocular testing; lensometry; administering topical and oral medications; eye care; and caring for instruments.

Paralegal Technology
ABA Approved and North Carolina Bar Certified Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law. The Paralegal Technology curriculum prepares individuals towork under the supervision of attorneys by performing routine legal tasks and assisting with substantive legal work.

Pharmacy Technology
The Pharmacy Technology curriculum prepares individuals to assist the pharmacist in duties that a pharmacy technician can legally perform and to function within the boundaries prescribed by the pharmacist and the employment agency. Course work includes and builds upon the domains of health care and pharmaceutical principals.

Physical Therapist Assistant
The Physical Therapist Assistant curriculum prepares graduates to work in direct patient care settings under the supervision of physical therapists. Assistants work to improve or restore function by alleviation or prevention of physical impairment and perform other essential activities in a physical therapy department.

Respiratory Therapy
The Respiratory Therapy curriculum prepares individuals to function as respiratory therapists. in these roles, individuals perform diagnostic testing, treatments and management of patients with heart and lung diseases.

School-Age Care Certificate
This curriculum prepares individuals to work with school-age children in diverse learning environments. The curriculum is specifically designed for students planning to work in public or private school-age care environments..

Simulation & Game Development
The Simulation and Game Development curriculum provides a broad background in simulation and game development with practical applications in creative arts, visual arts, audio/video technology, creative writing, modeling, design, programming and management. Students receive hands-on training in design, 3D modeling, software engineering, database administration and programming for the purpose of creating simulations and games.
Graduates may qualify for employment as designers, artists, animators, programmers, database administrators, testers, quality assurance analysts, engineers and administrators in the entertainment industry, the health care industry, engineering, forensics, education, NASA and government agencies.
Among the tools used in the program are: Autodesk 3ds Max Studio, Maya, Sketchbook Pro, Game Maker Studio, Google SketchUp, Adobe Master Collection (Photoshop, Flash, After Effects, Premiere Pro), MS Visual Studio, XNA, ZBrush, Mudbox3D, Unreal Engine and Unity 3D.

Speech Language Pathology Assistant Program
The Speech Language Pathology Assistant program at CPCC will be offered beginning in Fall 2015 in collaboration with Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. The program includes classroom instruction, clinical experience (fieldwork), and “hands on” laboratory experience..

Surgical Technology
The Surgical Technology curriculum prepares individuals to assist in the care of the surgical patient in the operating room and to function as a member of the surgical team. Students will apply theoretical knowledge to the care of patients undergoing surgery and develop skills necessary to prepare supplies, equipment and instruments; maintain aseptic conditions; prepare patients for surgery; and assist surgeons during operations.

Surveying Technology
The Surveying Technology curriculum provides training for technicians in the many areas of surveying. Surveyors are involved in land surveying, route surveying, construction surveying, photogrammetry, mapping, global positioning systems, geographical information systems and other areas of property description and measurements.
Course work includes the communication and computational skills required for boundary, construction, route and control surveying, photogrammetry, topography, drainage, surveying law and subdivision design, with emphasis upon applications of electronic data collection and related software including CAD.

Sustainability Technologies
The Sustainability Technologies Associates degree curriculum is based on a core of required science and engineering courses and feature four specialty tracks that will prepare technicians to meet workforce demands for highly skilled workers. The required, core courses will include math, biology, ecology, sustainability, CAD, GIS and alternative energy courses.

Transfer Program - Associate in Arts
The Associate in Arts degree is designed for students who plan to transfer to four-year colleges and universities. The degree will transfer as a block to North Carolina public universities and other institutions that participate in the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA).

Transfer Program - Associate in Fine Arts
The Associate in Fine Arts degree is awarded for study leading toward a career in art, dance, or music. The A.F.A.

Transfer Program - Associate in Science
The Associate in Science degree is designed for students who plan to transfer to four-year colleges and universities. The degree will transfer as a block to North Carolina public universities and other institutions that participate in the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA).

Turfgrass Management Technology
The Turfgrass Management Technology Curriculum is designed to provide skills necessary to perform duties related to management of golf courses, sports fields, lawn care, irrigation, design and sod production. Course work includes turfgrass management, irrigation, ornamental horticulture, soil science, entomology and plant pathology, as well as courses in communications, computers and the social sciences.

Welding Technology
The Welding Technology curriculum provides students with a sound understanding of the science, technology and applications essential for successful employment in the welding and metal industry. Instruction includes consumable and non-consumable electrode welding and cutting processes.
