Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a government-owned autonomous science and technology university founded in 1971.

It has three campuses: two in Cochin and one in Kuttanad, Alappuzha. It awards degrees in engineering and science subjects at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.

Ranking

It has found a place among the best universities in the world, in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016-17 with a rank in the 800+ category.

In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) University rankings it was placed in the top 30 for 2016.

It is placed at fifth rank in India in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities with a world ranking of 1150.

National Institute of Technology Calicut

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is a federally funded technical university and an institute of national importance governed by an act passed by the Parliament of India.

It was established in 1961 and was known as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC) until 2002. It is one of the National Institutes of Technology established by the Government of India for imparting high standard technical education to students from all over the country.

Ranking
It was ranked as the 35th best Engineering College of India in the Edu-Rand Rankings of 2015. The survey was done jointly by Edu, an Indian company and Rand Corporation, a non-profit American thinktank.

According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), was is ranked 35 in the 2016 engineering university rankings.
