Scientific Analysis Group (SAG) was built up in 1963 for advancing new logical strategies for plan and examination of correspondence frameworks. It was arranged in Central Secretariat Complex and comprised of 12 researchers. This gathering was set under direct control of Chief Controller (R&D) in 1973 and turned into an undeniable Directorate in R&D Headquarters.

In 1976, SAG began undertaking R&D extends on numerical, correspondence and discourse examination. Because of the expanding duties of SAG, the labor part of SAG experienced development and extra convenience was distributed to SAG at Metcalfe House Complex. Droop was additionally depended with R&D work in the field of gadgets. Business related to assessing correspondence hardware to be presented in Services was taken up amid 1980. The labor structure was again modified and the electronic offices were improved. Directly SAG is housed in two free structures with an aggregate labor of 140 researchers/specialized and other staff.

SAG is the lab working on the projects as well as other R&D activities directly related to use by Services. Some of the electronic systems are in use by other Government Agencies.
