Re: Delhi university Teachers Association India

According to Times of Indian “Left-backed Democratic Teachers' Front (DTF) made a comeback after fours years, with its presidential candidate winning the Delhi University Teachers' Association elections on Thursday, defeating the pro-Congress Academics for Action and Development's (AAD) candidate. Meanwhile, DTF candidate for the DUTA executive, Abha Dev Habib also won the election with the highest number of votes.DTF candidate Amar Deo Sharma was elected president with 2,417 votes, defeating his closest rival, Rekha Dayal, who got 1,893 votes. Sharma from Delhi College of Arts and Commerce has been the DUTA president in 2005 as well. The DTF comeback is significant as their presidential candidate in 2009, Renu Bala stood third in the polls receiving just 914 votes. For the 15-member DUTA executive, DTF fielded four candidates, of which three — Abha Dev Habib, Giriraj Bairwa and Saikat Ghosh — were also elected. The AAD officials said that incumbency could have been the factor, which denied them a third term in office.”
