Re: Directorate of Collegiate Education Hyderabad

Before 30.06.1975 Education at all levels in the State was being overseen by one Head of the Department called Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI). There was gigantic development of instructive Institutions, both at Secondary and Collegiate levels. With a view to streamline the working of the solid Directorate of Public Instruction and influencing it to work all the more viably, the Government have issued orders, bifurcating the division into the Directorate of School Education and Directorate of Higher Education in the year 1975 vide G.O. MsNo. 788 Edn., dated 30.06.1975. The Directorate of Higher Education was endowed with the obligation of the Management of Degree and Junior Colleges in the State.

Development of the Department:

In the year 1969 the State Government had presented 10+2+3 frameworks of training and began number of Junior Colleges in the State to grant Intermediate Education. The quantity of these universities expanded colossally after development of Directorate of Higher Education on 30.06.1975. Therefore, the managerial duties of Director of Higher Education have immensely expanded and the concentrated administration of the considerable number of schools from the State capital had turned out to be extremely troublesome. In this manner the need was felt to decentralize the association which has brought about the formation of four territorial workplaces in the State to manage the working of universities in the particular districts in the year 1981. The four workplaces of Regional Joint Directors are situated at Rajahmundry, Guntur and Kadapa.
