The Directorate of Medical Education of the Government of Karnataka was comes into existence from the Department of Health & Family Welfare Services, in the year 1978. The main aim of the Medical Education department is to provide a good quality education in the field of medical sciences. Medical/ Nursing colleges are governed by the rules and regulations of the Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, Nursing Council of India and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
