Defence Electronics Research Laboratory was established in 1961 under the sponsorship of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, to meet the needs and requirements of electronic systems of Indian Armed Forces.

The DRDO is having Electronics Lab for electrical students. DRDO is responsible for the design and development of Electronic Warfare systems covering radar and communication frequency bands for the Indian Army, Air-force and Navy.
