The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, (DIAT) as it is referred to today, appeared as the Institute of Armament Studies in 1952 in the CME campus.

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology – Deemed to be University (DIAT) is the premium Technological University of Dept. of Defence R&D/DRDO – Ministry of Defence – Govt. of India, occupied with giving specialized training, in specialty territories at PG (M.Tech) and Ph. D levels in the course of the most recent 60 years, in its different structures and limits.
