M. Tech Programmes & Eligibility Criteria for admission in IISc or Indian Institute of Science Bangalore are as follows:

One may hold a 2nd Class in the following qualifying exams to be eligible (SC/ST need just pass)
• Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent (4 years full time)
• Bachelor degree holders in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Electronics followed by qualifications obtained through an exam conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE
• Master degree holders (2 years) in Science disciplines including Physics with Electronics/ Instrumentation/Geology/ Computer Application/ Physical Sciences/ Mathematical Sciences in addition to the 10+2 (i.e. 10th Std and 12th Std).

One who has passed B Sc followed by a professional Diploma, should have studied the B. Sc in the 10+2+3 system and obtained minimum 2nd class.

One who has studied diploma and got exemption of 1 year in the Engineering/ Technology is also eligible to apply.

Final Year students can also apply provided they meet the criteria and pass their final year by July.

Subject wise Eligibility

Electronic Systems Engineering
BE / B Tech or equivalent degree with Electronics as one of the subjects of study (with a valid GATE) or M Sc or equivalent degree in Physics with Electronics as the special subject (with a valid GATE).
M Sc or equivalent degree holders should possess 2 years experience in Electronics hardware.

Computational Science
BE / B Tech or equivalent degree in any discipline (with a valid GATE) or M Sc or equivalent degree in any discipline (with a valid GATE) or Master’s in Computer Application (with a valid GATE).
In all cases a strong mathematical and programming background is required.

Climate Science
BE / B Tech or equivalent degree in any discipline (with a GATE Paper in AE, CE, CH, EC, EE, ME, XE) or M Sc or equivalent degree in Physical Sciences (with Gate Paper in GG, PH).

Instrumentation
BE / B Tech or equivalent degree (with a GATE Paper in EE, EC, IN) or M Sc or equivalent degree with specialization in Instrumentation (with a GATE Paper in EC,IN, PH).

Transportation and Infrastructure Engineering
BE / B Tech or equivalent degree in any discipline (with a valid GATE).

Earth Science
BE / B Tech or equivalent degree in any discipline (with a GATE paper in ME, CH, CE, CS, XE, XL) or M Sc or equivalent degree in any discipline (with a GATE paper in GG, CY,PH, MA).

Nano Science and Engineering
BE / B Tech or equivalent degree in any discipline (with GATE paper in AE, BT, CH, EE, EC, IN, ME, MT, PH, XE) or M Sc or equivalent degree in Electronics, Physics, Chemistry (with GATE in CY, EC, IN, PH paper).
