The Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) was found in 1962 with Vikram Sarabhai as its director. The Indian Space Research Organization in its cutting edge structure was made by Vikarm Sarabhai in 1969.

From that point forward there have been seven administrator of the Indian Space Research Organization, with Prof. Satish Dhawan serving the longest term of 12 years as the Chairman.
