The Department of Foreign Languages was started in 1949. This department offers courses in French, German, Russian, Japanese and Spanish at various levels, from elementary to post graduate courses

Courses offered:

Postgraduate courses

M.A. (two years), M. Phil. (one year course work+ two years for dissertation) and Ph.D. (five years: course work and dissertation)


Part time courses

Certificate : 1 Year

Intensive Certificate : 4 ½ Months (twice a year)


Diploma : 1 Year

Intensive Diploma : 4 ½ Months (twice a year)


Advanced Diploma : 1 Year

Special Diploma in German Translation : 1 Year
Special Diploma in Commercial German: 1 Year
