The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Himachal Pradesh University was built up in 1970 under the dynamic authority of Padma Bhushan Professor P.L. Bhatnagar. He carried with him immense scholarly, look into and authoritative experience which he used to establish the firm frameworks of the division. He began with a group comprising of Prof. S.N.Dube, Prof. Mihir B. Banerjee, Prof. R.C. Sharma, Prof K.S.Shirkot, Prof. S. K. Gupta and Prof. J.R. Gupta.

This youthful and dynamic group throughout the years, buckling down, conveyed name and acclaim to the college and set up the division on the national and worldwide scene.

Three educators to be specific Prof S. N. Dube, Prof Mihir B. Banerjee and Prof R. C. Sharma have been given the Fellowship of the National Academy of Sciences Allahabad for the recognized work which they completed while working here. Teacher Mihir B. Banerjee was granted the renowned Shanti Swaroop Bhatanagar Award in Mathematical Sciences in the year 1988 for his examination work. Later on Professor B.B. Sharma, Dr. K.C. Sharma and Professor Kirti Prakash likewise joined the division as instructors and contributed altogether.

Master of Arts/Science (M.A./M. Sc.) Details

Bachelor's Degree of a University set up by law in India (with the subject of concentrate for M.Sc. as one of the subjects) in second Division or with no less than 45% imprints (40% if there should arise an occurrence of SC/ST competitors) or Honors in the subject concerned.

Premise of Admission

The admission to these courses will be made entirely on the premise of imprints got in the Entrance Test and might be interested in all subject to the reservation endorsed by the University. The legitimacy will be resolved on the premise of aggressive examination (composed test and past scholastic record of the hopeful). The Entrance Test might be of 100 imprints and 30 marks are for past scholastic record of the understudy. The Written Test might be of different decision questions (MCQ) in nature in each subject according to the B. Sc. I, II, III pass courses endorsed by the Himachal Pradesh University. There will be 100 inquiries of one check each. The term of the test will be 1-1/2 hours.

The break up of 30 marks for the past scholastic record will be as under:

10% of the level of imprints acquired by an applicant.

The base qualifying marks for the Entrance Test will be 35% (if there should arise an occurrence of SC/ST hopefuls, the base qualifying marks might be diminished until the full SC/ST portion for affirmation has been depleted) for calling the possibility for Interview/Admission.
