The Department of Real Estate and Construction (formerly known as Department of Surveying) of Hong Kong University Of Science And Technology was formally established as a new department in June 1984.

The Master of Science in Real Estate [MSc(RealEst)] programme approaches real estate from a business and economic perspective.

The programme is designed to provide an advanced education in all major aspects of the land conversion process which affect decisions related to real estate in both the private and public sectors.

Each student must complete:

Twelve courses including prescribed and elective courses; or
Nine courses including prescribed and elective courses plus a dissertation.

The prescribed courses are:

Economics for professionals
Law for the real-estate and construction industry
Land economics
Project workshop
Institutional analysis for urban studies

Elective courses can be chosen from a wide range of options, which vary according to the major chosen from among the following:
