How To Become An Indian Police Service Officer

Hello sir I have dreamt off being an IPS officer since my childhood and I have complete my 12th . After class 12 what courses I have to complete for become an IPS officer? Would you please provide me Step by step procedure to become IPS officer ? What is the eligibility required for an IPS officer ??

The IPS (Indian Police Service) is responsible for public safety and security. The IPS mainly takes care of law and order, which, at the district level, is a responsibility shared with the IAS; crime prevention and detection ; and traffic control and accident prevention and management.

For Becoming A IPS Officer you may Clear the IPS Examination that is A One of the Civil Service Exam that is taken by the UPSC Every Year

Eligibility Criteria


Minimum Educational Qualifications:-

The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age Limit:- A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years.

Age Relaxation:-

(i) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

(ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

Examination Pattern :


Part A

PAPERS OF OBJECTIVE TYPE


Paper I - (200 marks) Duration : Two hours

• Current events of national and international importance
• History of India and Indian National Movement
• Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
• Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
• Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
• General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
• General Science.

Paper II-(200 marks) Duration : Two hours

• Comprehension
• Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability
• Decision making and problem solving
• General mental ability
• Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. — Class X level)
• English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).


Part B

PAPERS OF DESCRIPTIVE TYPE

Paper III : English (200 marks / 3 hours duration) :- This will be a qualifying test only of Matriculation or equivalent standard.

The aim of the paper is to test the candidate’s ability to read and understand serious discursive prose, and to express his ideas clearly and correctly, in English.

The pattern of questions would be broadly as follows (indicative only) :—

(i) Comprehension of given passages;
(ii) Precis Writing;
(iii) Usage and Vocabulary;
(iv) Paragraphs writing;

Note:- Answer to all questions in this Paper will have to be attempted in English only.

Paper IV : Essay ( 200 Marks/ three hours duration)

DATE OF NOTIFICATION (WEDNESDAY)- 22.02.2017

LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS - 17.03.2017 (FRIDAY)

DATE OF COMMENCEMENT OF EXAM - 18.06.2017 (SUNDAY)

DURATION OF EXAM - 1 DAY
