Visakhapatnam (Visakh) Refinery is one of the two oil refineries of HPCL in India, the other being Mumbai Refinery. A brief history of Visakh Refinery is underneath. In 1957, Visakh Refinery went on stream under the responsibility for/s Caltex India Ltd. In May, 1978, M/s Caltex Oil Refinery (India) was amalgamated with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. The introduced limit of 1.5 MMTPA was expanded to 4.5 MMTPA in 1985 and 7.5 MMTPA in 1999, through a development program.
