The ICFAI University, Dehradun was established under the ICFAI University Act 2003 (Act No.16 of 2003) passed by the Uttaranchal Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on July 08,2003.

It is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI), a non-profit educational society established in 1984.

ICFAI AICTE Approved

As per law, Universities do not require All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approval. Only institutions which are affiliated to Universities require AICTE approval.

As The ICFAI University, Dehradun is a Bonafide University established by a State Act, it does not require AICTE approval.

This standing of law is notified by the Supreme Court of India in the case of Bharathidasan University v/s AICTE.
