Re: IELTS Is Valid For How Many Years

According to the IELTS exam is valid for 2 years and here I will gather information related to the exam for you.

Eligibility
Anyone above the age of 16 years can take the IELTS test. If you wish to study, work or migrate to the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand and study or work in the US, you can take this test.

Syllabus
With the excellent availability of internet, the exam has become an Internet based test. Internet based test has certainly dominated the computer based tests and paper based tests. The test consists of Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.

Reading section
There are 3-4 passages of 700 words each, where students have to answer questions about main ideas, details, vocabulary, rhetorical purpose and overall ideas.

Listening section
This Section includes six passages of 3-4 minutes in length. In this section, there are passages that include two student conversations and four academic lectures or discussions. Each conversation is heard only once. Each conversation will be associated with five questions, whereas each lecture with six. Questions in this section will be asked to determine the main ideas, important details, speaker purpose and attitude.

Speaking:
Speaking section consists of six tasks: two independent tasks and four independent tasks. In independent tasks, candidate has to answer opinion questions on familiar tasks. Candidates are judged on their ability to speak spontaneously and clearly.

Exam pattern

The total test duration of IELTS exam is 2hrs and 45 minutes. It comprises of four modules i.e. Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

In Listening section, there will be 40 questions, each of one mark. After checking, marks will be converted into bands.

Then, the mean of all bands scored in each section will be carried out to check out the final band.

Same pattern goes with Reading sections, where marks will be allotted, followed by conversion of marks into bands.

Coming to the Writing Section; there will be two tasks i.e. Task 1 and Task 2.
Total time limit for task 1 is 20 minutes, whereas for task 2 is 40 minutes.

In task 1, students are asked to write 150 words by having a look on a diagram or table, provided on the question sheet.

They will be judged on the ability to describe the diagram through words, comparing the data and vocabulary & sentence structure.

For task 2, students will be asked to provide solution for a given argument or problem.

They will be judged on the ability to solve the problem and justify their opinion.

Both the tasks will be scored on a band of 1-9.

Speaking test will be assessed on four broad areas that have been listed below:-
Fluency and Coherence
Lexical Resource
Grammatical Area
Pronunciation
First three sections are scored out of 9 and the fourth is marked as 2, 4, 6 and 8.
