The basic requirement to apply for Ph D Biochemistry Program in IISc or Indian Institute of Science Bangalore is as follows: Master or equivalent degree in any branch of Science or Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Medicine/ Engineering/ Technology/ Agriculture/ Veterinary Science/Pharmacy One needs to qualify in any one of the following appropriate entrance tests. One is short listed for interview based on the performance in the qualifying test. • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) • Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF • UGC NET for JRF • ICMR JRF • DBT JRF - candidates who have qualified in Grade A are eligible • INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP One short listed is called for the interviews: • First round of interview: • There are 4 committees to select students and the top 2 students can be selected for the second interview per session. • The list of selected students will be put out at the end of each session. • Test on basics in 3 areas, approximately 15 min/student. Second round of interview: • Tests basics and slightly higher level & problem solving questions in three areas, 20 min/student • One may meet with faculty members, when they are available to discuss potential projects. • Merit list is put up by the end of interviews • After the merit list is prepared, the faculty preferences are made known to the faculty • Faculty allocation is done only after the Dean’s list of students admitted to the Department are made. • Allocations will be based on the student’s performance (merit list) and the student’s order of faculty preference. • After the list has run, some mutual adjustments between faculties will be permitted. |
