Indian Institute of Science (IISC) is a public university for scientific research and higher education located in Bangalore, India. The Division of Mechanical Sciences comprises of six Departments and two Centres and is the largest Division of the Indian Institute of Science. Research Programs Ph.D. The Ph.D. program in the department is meant for students with a M.E. / M.Tech degree. It is the main research degree. Students admitted to the course have to complete a Research Training Program (RTP) comprising of courses, followed by research work culminating in the doctoral thesis. Admission Admission to the Ph.D. program is open to students holding a Masters Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Admission is based on an interview. Average Duration The average duration of the Ph.D. program is four and half years. Financial Aid Students get monthly scholarship of Rs.18,000 to Rs.20,000 (likely to be increased).
