Science Media Centre act as a conduit between science institutions and the media, and vice versa through facilitating Science Media Centers (Centres) for research based organizations. The Science Media Center is managed and operated by Gubbi Labs - Research Media Services Division. Communication Skills Essentials Communication skills are rated as the most important of all soft skills. The expansive nature of communication skills makes it essential & necessary to gain expertise over each sub-content. The course aims to cover the foundational aspect, both in terms of knowledge & skills. Place: Bangalore, Karnataka Duration: 2 Days Course Structure: Pre-course work: Online Assessments Reading Common Bridge Course Workshop Post-Course: Learning Evaluation Self-learning Further Reading Eligibility: Students should have completed 12th standard and professionals from any domain. Participation is limited to 25 applicants. Fees: Students: Rs.5000 Professionals: Rs.10000 Based on outcomes & experiential learning systems the course covers the following: Verbal Communication – The art of making engaging conversations is a powerful way of expressing ideas & opinions to others. It devolves into a basic interpersonal skills that is effective in breaking ice & building business relations. Verbal communication mastery makes for effective speakers & impactful speeches delivered to both generic & specific audiences; an effective demonstration of an essential trait of leadership. Non-verbal Communication – Tone & expressions can break or make connections with people. Human evolution has resulted in a large component of communication falling within the domain of non-verbal communication. Trust, impression, respect & style are directly impacted by the non-verbal communication. Any discrepancy between verbal & non-verbal communication creates doubt & suspicion between speaker & listeners. Listening – One of the most important aspect of communication is listening. A strategic tool which is employed for precise & accurate communication. Listening, apart from giving critical information, also provides how a response needs to be constructed; combining elements of effective communication. Interpersonal Communication – Communicating with team members, peers, supervisors & subordinates needs different styles & types of communication to be used. Persuasion & motivation, need to combine seamlessly for convincing presentation of ideas & views.
