One who has qualified in GATE 2016 can avail admissions and applied after March 20, 2016 when the GATE 2016 Result was announced. Non GATE candidates appeared for a written test to avail admissions.

IIT Madras M.Tech 2016 Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must have passed any one of the following Qualifying Degrees:

• Bachelor degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture
• Master degree in Chemistry/Life Sciences/Mathematics/Physics related subjects from educational Institutions approved by UGC/ Government
• Associate Membership holders of the professional bodies for admission into the parent disciplines from the following:

The Institution of Engineers (India) (AMIE)

The Aeronautical Society of India (AMAeSI) (eligible only for aerodynamics, structures and propulsions streams)

The Indian Institute of Metals (AMIIM)

The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, including Polymer and Environmental Group (AMIIChemE)

The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (AMIETE)

One with B.Tech from an IIT with a C.G.P.A. of 8.0 (7.5 for SC/ST) are exempt from GATE criteria.
