About the Department

The Agricultural and Food Engineering (AGFE) department, the first of its kind in the country was set up in 1952. This specialized department exists only at IIT Kharagpur among all the IITs.

It covers a wide range of areas dealing with application of engineering and technology right from tillage practices to harvesting of crops and processing the same until it reaches the consumer.
