The MS (Master of Science) Program offered by IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Madras is the Masters level research program carried out under the guidance of a faculty member of the respective Department.

The student (called Research Scholar (RS)) undertakes a few courses with a view to better understanding the broad areas of his research work.
